Lonilness is the isolation I recieve

from my mother who rarely shows love

from siblings who leave whenever they please

from family abandoning family

Fear to me is

the closeness men get to me as they

take whatever they want and leave

behind nothing but a broken girl

Fear to me is

never moving forward

out of the depression that encases my heart daily

the anxiety that never seems to leave my head

My own thouhgts turn to lightning

striking my soul, heart, and mind

crashing against the bars of the cages

made to keep everything locked inside

Fear encases my heart

Fear takes away my ability to feel

Fear takes away my ability to breath

But I don't let the fear control me.

The author's comments:

This piece is the examples of fear that I constantly feel in my everyday life. It consumes my heart and takes control of my mind. At times it's hard to move forward but I'm learning to not let the fears control me.

Writing is my freedom from the demons of everyday life. It's my favorite form of expression, even when it's not in poetry form.
