senses of fall
Bursting with color, bright green from summer slowly fades,
Yellow―Orange―Red,
Its trunk stretches forty feet―leaves peak seventy, as
sticky syrup slides down the stump.
Autumn approaches, with so many sights to see.
The leaves crunch under my feet.
Scurried, in a hurry, squirrels stomp up the bark.
A Red Robin perches on a twig, serenading nearby ears.
Windy days, rustle branches like a heartbeat after a haunted house,
restless, rowdy, rambunctious.
Syrup from the tree, tempts pancakes.
Soil seeps up the tree to my nose,
Musty leaves after an autumn rainfall,
smokey tree bark reminds me of jerky.
The wind carries these scents for others to enjoy
Crisp cold air, crinkles my nose.
Wispy winds giving me goosebumps.
The crunching of crumpled leaves,
feeling the crunching under feet,
the cold feeling while raking leaves
