By the Beach
For miles, the water walks along the horizon.
I hear the crash of waves on the shore, see
the blinding sun glistening on the water.
As clear as a window, I see the sand beneath.
Eighty degree water surrounds my feet.
Salt lingers on my taste buds.
Grains of sand, like sifted flour,
tickle the bottom of my feet.
Whistling wind blows bits into my eyes.
Noticing how pure the sand seems.
I grind my teeth, hearing the crunch of rocks,
and taste the salt.
Teenangers tan under the rays,
while children splash, smile, and shout.
Pop music encourages adults to dance.
People conserving the beauty.
Swimming to escape the heat, I
enjoy the never ending water.
