thin walls
i have thin walls
i can hear the words being thrown on the floor
shattering to a million pieces
too small for me to put back together
little brother comes to me
asking questions about what is happening
in the other room
i tell him they’re just playing
mom and dad are just talking about things
tell him to lay with me
i turn up the tv to drown out
the years of yelling
but i have thin walls
and i remember hearing the words being thrown on the floor
shattering to a million pieces
myself breaking along with them
too small to put me back together
