Sadness
Most people think of sadness
As a crashing tidal wave.
It comes and goes from time to time,
Never really grave.
Some think of it as a cloud,
That never truly goes away.
The thoughts of Sadness are so strong,
Your vision fades to grey.
The days where you’re stuck in bed
When those horrible thoughts, just can’t leave your head
You feel so trapped inside your own mind-
Scared, alone, with Sadness deep inside.

This piece was inspired by the mental health issues many modern high school kids face due to academic, social and athletic pressures. It also shows the depths of depression- as it does not affect anyone the same. To anyone going through a tough time- you are clearly not alone. Things will get better. Theres always a light at the end of the tunnel.
