Home in the Woods
The morning sun trickled through the window and gently brought a girl from her dreams
She awoke and eased herself to wakefulness
She walked from her warm bed and sun-lit window pane to the outside of her house
She closed her eyes and breathed in the crisp mountain air
Autumn surrounded her like a blanket
A safe and calm embrace
She looked upon the world
Just waking up
The sunrise welcomed her and she smiled in greeting
A pond abandoned its placid peace as a large oak poked it awake with falling leaves
Stray leaves danced in the cool breeze
Swirling and spinning through the air
Out here in the mountains
Beyond the cities and stress and the rest of the world
Surrounded by nature and nothing more
She felt at home
