I am like a dove soaring high and free,
But then I am like a tiger,
Ready, to pounce on anyone who annoys me
Who am I then
A tiger, a dove, both
I am me
Strong, free, adventurous
Compassionate, quick-witted, observant
Or maybe I’m
Versatile, trustworthy, and ambitious
What I am and What I can do
Is what makes me, me
If I compare myself
I am not me anymore
I am self-conscious
When I am, me I make my own decisions
I learn to trust and be myself
Without that, I can’t be me
I can’t be the person I am meant to be
I can’t learn how to live
Without someone changing what I do
That's why I am me

Born in Oklahoma city, Vaishnavi (born 2004-present). She started writing poetry in 9th grade. For her, poetry lets her speak her feelings without letting on so much that it might ruin something. Her poetry is representing her dysfunctional family and how she struggles with that and how she sometimes deals with that.
