Alone
A girl, hiding in her closet. Hugging her knees close. Fearful of her family. Holding back her tears. Hearing them coming closer. Scarcely breathing. Her father yelling insults at her. Her siblings, sniggering with glee.
But she’s not alone.
A group of friends, all having doubts and fears. Hiding from their peers, drinking their problems away, and going to detention every day. Their parents, nagging about their grades.
But they’re not alone.
A boy, self-conscious of his body image. Malnourishing himself, and exercising vigorously. The other kids calling him names. His parents, forcing food in him. His friends, mocking him.
But he’s not alone.
A girl, wanting a sign, listening for something significant to change my views. Waiting for someone to care. Waiting for my ‘friends’ to help. Waiting for someone to take me out of this trance.
But I’m not alone.
Through all the pain and sorrows, you’re not alone.
You’re never alone.
He is with you always.
