The Generation Gap
It's like a forcefield, hindering our vision
Closing our minds, yielding our precision
Different generations
Dissimilar agitations
Stressors hold us back
Increasing our lack of the empathy we want to pack
It's an everlasting battle between the eldest and the youth
We keep on fighting, without soothing the burning truth
We're separated. Not by age, but minds
Like a lined living wall that hinders us from behind
The day we cross paths to feel that lost compassion
Is the day we open our eyes and let that passion crash in
We hold hands, not gaining a one-up
We're equal in stress, able to shatter like a tea-cup
We've all got our own problems and add-ons
But we shouldn't make them invalid, we should turn on
The understanding that we have for one another
Without annoyance and without saying anything to smother
Experience is different for all
We each have our own impediment, our own call
We open our hearts, hold our compassionate sentiment
We go forward and forget our laments
We walk as one
Not through age. But through the unification that has just begun.
