Untitled
I’m from a home consumed in trees and bushes,
from the days, dark and dawn,
from the walks that I took down the freshly paved roads
to the scraped knees and bruises.
I’m from the rolled ankles and broken arms,
from the slides, stunts, and slips that caused them,
from the drives that took me to the family I love,
to the walks that took me to an open field.
I’m from the backyard where I spent my time,
from the games we spent days playing,
from the wins, losses and draws,
to the days that were done in an hour.
