Brave Little Girl
I am from pieces and pieces,
four to two thousand, one at a time.
From melodies waltzing through the air.
I am from shadows dwindling into light,
inch by inch, crawling out of hiding.
A shy girl with no confidence, who is afraid of the world.
I am from color by color,
untouched to mixed, in a minutes time.
From soft shades to bold and vibrant, ready to leap off the canvas.
I am from people pleasing and changing who I am...
wanting to make others happy, sacrificing my sanity in the process.
From nights of crying myself to sleep, hoping things would change.
I am from tears of pain and hope,
scar by scar, falling apart on the inside.
Afraid of being hurt to postive self-esteem like a sky scaper.
I am from a head held high and rising from the ashes,
second by second, speaking my mind for once.
From no longer caring about what others have to say.
I am from silence...insignificant thoughts...
blocking out the world... one voice at a time.
From a little girl who will prove you wrong about her.
I am from the voices that taunt my mind,
whispering in my ears, you’ll never be like them.
From listening to ignoring the devil inside my heart.
I am from abandonment and searching for love...
hoping that just maybe, I’ll be the one in a million.
From wishing on a star to escaping fantasyland.
I am no longer that scared, sensitive girl,
breaking out of the past, not letting it haunt her.
Now, taking the world by storm, planting my flag at the top of the world.
