Dreams
If you are not here for me,
then all I can do is close my eyes.
Possibilities like a waterfall.
But it’s not real life.
If it were, I could be happy.
We could be happy.
Why can’t you see me?
Your eyes are too clogged.
You don’t trust anyone.
You found a piece of my heart.
A piece I didn’t know was missing.
You are perfect.
I reach out and feel
If you are real.
But I am pulled away
By a feeling inside
That doesn’t want to be broken.
At least I have you in my head.
People don’t believe in you, but I do.
I trust you.
I drift away with every word you say.
I’m never coming back down.
I try to push you away.
I can’t.
I can’t break free.
I’m stranded and blind.
I am stuck in your death-tight grip.
You don’t even know it.

This piece was very hard to make because it took many weeks to complete. I believe a poem is never finished until you can connect to it and recite with your eyes closed. This piece in particular was easy to connect to, but extremely hard to finish. I needed to show and not tell to make it shine.
