Virginia
The chorus of the peep-toads
Lulls me to sleep, and
The morning birdsong
Awakens me.
I bathe in
The summer rain, and
I feast on
The wild berries.
I dance to
The music of
Footsteps and gentle whispers, and
I adorn myself
With crowns of
Wildflowers.
This land has
Given birth to me, and
Continues to cradle me
In Her arms.
