“Son”
Patriarchal bliss
Simmered in silence
Embedded with whimpers
Each sire rewires.
Hardware—
Freudian slip
Father off bruised lips.
Bloodied cause,
Tainted laws,
Affection bubbling craves.
Merely undone,
Unwound,
“Son”

Seeing someone with which you share no blood as your father is a precarious scenario. It requires one to virtually implore their mentor for attention all while seeking out most all behaviors to receive validation. In “Son” I address the tribulations I have faced in breaking apart from the one and only patriarch forced upon me by societal views, and the strives taken by myself to be seen as not simply a predecessor, but as a son to the man I wish to deem father.
