after the party's over
I cannot bear the pain
Of driving alone at night
After the party has come and gone
Voices crop up in my chest, pinpricks
Tombstones dotting a graveyard
They sing a soft, melodious song
Covers me with down
Fills me with dark, hot syrup
Shove a cone through the sunroof
And into my head
Agape against a sky of funneled light
Oh please, funnel the whole world in
Let me drink, I must see what lies beyond
The earth comes up from underneath
Protects me in a gentle dirt cylinder
Here, my heart can't escape
It ricochets off the walls in an echo
Earth turns red
This magma and this shade
Just what I needed
To forget
Yes, fill me to the brim with longings of misremembrance
