The Rock Seas
The boat rocks back and forth;
the seas are starting
to get rough,
the gloomy sky filled with despair and anguish,
as I look toward the horizon
I see an approaching storm.
I begin to prepare myself
for the fast approaching storm,
but all alone I feel a sense of hopelessness.
I anchor myself to the boat
with a long rope,
hoping it’ll keep me from flying off.
The storm starts to
overtake the boat,
I try to keep my balance,
but the storm is to great.
It begins to thrash me around,
I fall to my knees,
and as I look up and see
the boat heading towards
a tsunami-sized wave.
I buckle down, in a crouch position,
ready to crash into the wave.
we collide,
I’m thrown off the boat
and as I enter the water I feel
I am no longer anchored to the boat.
The storm carries the boat away;
Leaving me there,
with my arms reaching up,
falling deeper and deeper
into the eternal darkness,
still with the rope around my waist.
I begin to ask myself “Will I make it?”
I start to lose consciousness,
but a light breaks through the bitter darkness
and I feel a hand touching mine,
pulling me out of the water,
my eyes flutter open
I see a comforting face
and begin to weep.
