Dear Future,
when I hear your name,
Future
little jumping beans wake up in my stomach
my smile becomes strenuous to contain
millions of possible moments dance through my mind, like a film reel
a preview of my life
but, Future
when I hear your name
little droplets of sweat dribble down the corners of my forehead
for a second all air is snatched from me by a quick thief
my frown begins to make an appearance, peeking through that big smile
memories whirl through my mind
a movie of my life
Future,
my heart is beginning to fill
yet it feels like
my heart is beginning to empty
I want to sprint off and retreat back
at the same time
please Future,
give me all you have
yet please don’t take anything of mine away
