Can I Sleep?
Can I sleep?
That all depends
On how many sheep
There are to count
One, two, three
Oh look!
A bee!
Buzzing oh so beautifully
When will fatigue grasp me?
That all depends
On if tomorrow's busy
There are this many things to do:
This, that, and the third
Oh look!
A bird!
Singing oh so softly
When will my eyes be heavy?
That all depends
On if my brain is steady
There are infinite day-dreams to explore
Tonight
Ifs, ands, and buts fly all about
Oh look!
See the bobcat shout!
Roaring oh so sharply
When will this night be late enough?
That all depends
On nightly stuff
There is only me in this bed
If only it were not for my very active head
Perhaps the Z's
Would have caught me instead
Of running away with the bee, the bird, and the bobcat
In any case
There's no time more to waste
I expend no such haste
Exploring all the realms my mind can taste
