starting over
paint drips from her canvas
heavy with the weight of all the colors
they swirl and mix together, turning an angry shade of brown.
she tries to fix it,
dabbing with a paper towel,
apologizing, asking for forgiveness, leaving…
but when she returns, it’s still the same.
ugly and heavy
only now, it’s dried. nothing can fix it.
she tears it down and inhales.
puts up a new canvas
blank, white
she’s more careful, cautious
slowly easing into it
finally ready to begin again.
