Siren Song
In every fleeting moment
With every hollow step
I hear it
An ancient hymn
Echoing all around me
Ethereal whispers
Dance inside my head
Promising wonders
The likes of which
I’ve never known
Entranced, I follow it
Every step amplifying the song
Their pull strengthens
As their warm melodies
Entangle me
Sweet harmony
Turns to a harsh crescendo
Infernal screams
Claw at my ears
Begging me to come to them
I fight them
Struggling to escape
The sweet trance
Poisoning
My mind
The whispers stop
All that's left is a soft ringing
And the hollow pit
That grows
Within me
