The Wall Around My Heart MAG
I built it. I built it of wood,
Of excuses, of lies, of oh why's and of I'm too shy's.
I built it. I built it of bricks, of stones of hate, of it's too late's
Of they're not my friends, of plain toothless grins.
I built it. It took so long. I labored for love of the cause;
I labored for fear it would fall – but it still did.
They knocked, they banged, and they hammered away.
They rammed, they wrecked – all night and all day.
Then the wall fell. The one I worked so hard to build.
And when they knocked it down, they left a long, well-worn path through my heart.
