"I refuse to accept other people's ideas of happiness for me. As if there's a 'one size fits all' standard for happiness." - Kayne West

I had a dream, where our misery would end                                                                                           For our suffering and pain to come to an end                         I found a magic wand Then I fast forward 100 years

One hundred years later, the Negro still isn’t free                                                                                        They live on islands loaded with richness                                                                                                   He still rules our land The White is ontop of American society

They told us we were all equal                                                                                                                               They still gave the White people checks We refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt                                                                               It’s time to lift our nation to the solid rock of brother

America will be restless and without tranquility until the Negro is granted citizenship rights        Don’t seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from a cup of bitterness and hatred                                       There’s still time to change our views         we must rise to majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

I had a dream                                                                                                                                                                                   I had a wish                                                                                             Freedom from from the curvaceous slopes of California To Stone Mountain in Georgia

She grabbed my hand                                                                                                                                           And I grabbed hers From the words of the old Negro spiritual we sing                                                                                      “Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”

This piece was inspired by Martin Luther King Jr's "I Have A Dream" speech. His powerful words inspired me to remix his speach and words into my own poem "I Had A Dream"
