Bittersweet
I see it clear as day
And it is not pleasant.
It is right in front of your face.
You told me that I was being manipulated,
But you wouldn’t admit to being the manipulator.
The blame is placed anywhere but yourself.
How could it be your fault after all?
You choose money over me,
And continuously do so for others.
You are a material man.
Your strengths are intimidating, your weaknesses: vulnerable.
You love the idea of having to do things until
You are the one who receives the repercussions.
I came to learn that the world is only
as good as you make it out to be.
I never got to feel the warmth a person is supposed to feel in their heart
When being cradled between two arms.
You looked right past me.
You darkened my world but that is when I realized
That everything comes to light in the dark.
You would never say “sorry”, but even if you did,
I could never accept it,
Because sorry implies that things are going to change,
And I know that with you, that is never possible.
You taught me the hard way,
How to handle difficult people
And for that
I will be forever resentful and grateful.
