When the Sun Sinks
When the sun sinks
below the horizon
in the space
of
a
moment
burning light bursts
a familiar gold –
many meet it on their journeys.
It’s
a yellow face peaking up from a desert dune
a faint line of fire shouldering the blue skies of morning
a glow of charcoal embers in a fireplace
a reflection of gold flowing on the Danube in evening.
This face
this fire
are anamnesis taking us through space and time,
to family and friends long gone.
This face
This fire
creates a force of warmth…of fervor.
The autumn wind blows hard now,
along our golden journey
of floating souls
whispering that we are never gone,
we are just hiding below
the horizon
in the space
of
a
moment.
