A Sceptic's Faith == which He cannot afford
I am blind.
I dream
you step into the field of sunflowers --
they stand tall above,
not looking down on us,
but up to the Sun.
(another life)
I intertwine my fingers with yours,
thankful for our old wrinkles of experience,
for smooth skin and perfect lips
would only be the portrait
of spoiled youth.
I am blind.
I see
you lying in my arms in a forever peace --
the only forever I could offer,
not kind nor ignorant.
(guilty realities)
I stare into the empty mirror,
the canvas of you looks back,
until your strokes of hand
fall into my rough edges
and I can no longer face the Sun.

I wrote this poem after reading The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. The book inspired me to reflect on the idea of self compared to the world and moved me to create this work.
