Thousands of Miles Away
Drizzly rain
hits the window frame
Dragging me out from my vaguely sweet dream
The clear rippling sound of rain, is the
birthday song my parents sing to me, from
thousands of miles away
Continuous rain
I, uncontrollably, walk into it
Letting the rainwater wash over me
Listen carefully to the dulcet melodies
Birthday wishes from my family
I read them over and over again
The rain drops on my body, struck
my heart, a gentle breeze
blows through my hair, brings my thoughts
slowly home, the class will trigger soon

Studying in a different country is fun, but it also means being away from family for a long time. This poem is written when I have not seen my family members for a while and missed them on my birthday
