I chopped off my hair to look more like the girls you loved
But beauty is a trick of light
My eyes shouldn’t be this heavy; I’m only seventeen
Vision impaired and nearly blind
I long for the grasp of lacy corsets and lovesick men crafted by female writers
How can I expect me to be a fighter when he isn’t worth the bruises
Past and present
So I hold myself tighter
And make my monsters my muses.
