A World I Want to Live In
Everyone’s got this mentality,
That’s a result of our lack of acceptability,
Our lack of accountability,
To hold people to their word,
So instead the mentality tramples us.
Now everyone’s afraid of this world,
That makes you a little bit too trusting,
Waiting to destroy you,
If you give it all of you.
They say, “Don’t give to the world,
You’ll get nothing back.
Don’t set the world on fire,
You’ll be the first to burn.”
They say, “Don’t be a whore,
Don’t get entangled.
Don’t get comfortable,
You’re not entitled.”
They say, “It’s not depression,
It’s just seeking attention.”
They say that’s the situation,
They don’t know that’s not the solution.
We can’t help but think of times when things were easier,
When we didn’t have a care in the world.
We didn’t realize how good we had it,
Can’t understand why we wanted to grow up.
Yet every day we challenge the status quo,
Every day we fail and try again,
Every day by being who we are,
Every day by doing something completely out of our comfort zones.
So no, it’s not seeking attention,
It may really be depression.
Maybe we need a revolution,
That’s the solution.
I want to live in a world where my opinions are mine,
Live in a world where my words are mine,
A world where the scales are balanced,
Where I do not tiptoe around my world as if it were not my own.
