Eye Of The Beholder
Beauty is like a broken mirror
in the way it can be both helpful and dangerous.
It could be used as a slightly accurate reflection of you,
but
if you grow to be obsessed with your reflection,
if you get too close,
you could cut yourself.
Thoughts and emotions can fill the cracks like grout
and persist until it looks like a twisted product of kintsugi
but even then,
even then,
you may see the silver,
or rather, gold lining in all of it.

I wrote this piece with the intention to emphasize the fine line between taking care of yourself and loving your image, and being too obsessed with your face value that it becomes harmful. I often find myself teetering on that line, and I wanted to highlight this personal challenge I face in hopes of relating to other people who have felt like that.
