We create “known rules”

Like men don’t cry

Or don’t show your thigh

Because men will be "distracted"

We talk about freedom of speech

But when the youth wants to speak

We are silenced

We are exposed to violence

We hear of the bullets blistering,

Between an innocent child’s skin

The loud thoughts that are thrown into a trash bin

That pile up until they commit sucicide

The whispers of the victims’ linger within me but nobody hears?

Why? Did they all disappear?

The author's comments:

This poem talks about gun violence, and on the "rules of society". It also talks about the youth being silenced. I believe each and everyone one of us has a voice.
