The world is seemingly still:

the forest blanketed with moonlight,

the soft rustle of branches

as a cool breeze blows through them,

a symphony of crickets singing to the stars.

Our truck follows the back roads

with no destination in sight.

Instead of letting the tranquility of the night swoon us to sleep,

we fill the silence with a new noise; music.

The music roars

shaking our truck with each beat.

We dance,

we sing,

we laugh.

We create new memories:

memories that will remind us of

the night we filled the forest with sound.

The author's comments:

One of my favorite childhood memories was hunting with my dad. At first, I hated the early mornings, but he always tried to make it fun by turning the radio all the way up and blasting his favorite 90's songs. We made it a tradition and did it for every hunting trip. I don't go hunting anymore, but the memories are always with me.
