Death's Street Light
Death is a street light.
Bright and feathery, following
Every step that you take,
And becomes more present
At night.
Death is a street light.
It can be long and rough
Or short and smooth,
And you’ll never know which
One you’ll face at the end of the street.
Death is a street light.
Waiting for the bulbs to burn out
Or be loose or go missing,
Before a new one takes its place
And repeats the cycle.
This piece uses the metaphor of death and a street light. It goes into detail about the similarities they both share.
