Did Icarus want to be free,

did he long for the fall?

If he could do it all over again,

would he change it at all?

Did Icarus laugh as he fell,

did he answer death's call?

Or did he finally cry,

let down his heart's heavy walls?

Was Icarus happy,

did he know that he would die?

Did he loosen the wax

on his wings so he could never fly?

Was it really so tragic,

or had he already said his goodbyes?

Would he want us to grieve,

or dry every tear that we cry?

Was he narcissistic,

or did he just want to feel alive?

Did Icarus still feel the sun

when he fell and he died?

Did he feel the splash of the water

When Icarus took his last dive?

Was he too reckless,

or did he mean to hit water and die?

Did Icarus long for the fall,

was he finally happy?

Or did he cry and flap and flail,

cause he had much more he could be?

Was Icarus normal,

or did he wonder like you and me?

Did Icarus mean suicide,

or did the thoughts intrude that won't leave him be?

Icarus, Icarus,

tell me about the fall

Icarus, Icarus,

did anyone know you at all?

Icarus, Icarus,

was your life painfully dull?

Icarus, Icarus,

did you live in spite of it all?

Icarus, Icarus,

did you feel like you could fly?

Icarus, Icarus,

when your wings snapped and you died?
