Happy.
Opening his eyes for the first time,
a little seed exclaimed, “Hello!”
Falling from a tree with a gust of wind,
his sole desire to grow
But he just couldn’t start from where he had fallen,
no, he knew he must go
So he hitched a ride on the back of a squirrel
and into the woods he rode
Reaching a clearing and judging it well,
the seed jumped off to explore
Exhausted from surveying around him, he smiled–
surely knowing he would be more
Thus, he started to sprout from the soil
free from doubt, perhaps a bit bored
And before he had known it he had grown to a sapling,
confidence still burning his core
Days changed to months, then turned into years,
years to decades to three
Golden sweet sap– trailing down bark,
the little seed now proudly a tree
After those endless years of growing,
being a tree made him feel sleepy
But closing his eyes made him realize–
he just wanted to be dead.
