The Flame That Never Dies
A flame that dances when its shaken gently,
A flame that chooses joy during the reason for its creation,
to be a light that guides those who wander in dark places,
or are trapped in them inside their own lives, and homes,
this very flame was created in the first place because
it was made to be strong during trials, and
shine brighter than those who threaten to dim its light.
A flame that goes down but rises up again, those who blow at its
fire with evil desires pay for their greed, when the flame becomes put
at its lowest, but never torn down for good, because it cannot be, because
it has been broken and now will not break, will not be defined by the past.
When the flame fights to rise, it will, and its enemies will regret every attempt
to destroy an everlasting light. No matter who tries to shut it down, every candle
will wish to befriend this flame, because it’s
A flame that shares light with its friends, to produce more flames, or create
more light, and that is common knowledge, but many people who are
unwilling to share in their minds, and greedy in their hearts, these people assume
that the candle’s flames can give its light with anyone they come to close contact
with, and what they have will remain the same. Afterall, does the candle lose its flame?
Is the flame less than before? No. Wouldn’t it be easier for the light to share than the rest
of us, then? Also no.
A candle’s flame represents its joy, its spirit, how much they believe in their
truths, the light does not decrease when shared, but that doesn’t mean
that the candle loses nothing in helping a friend. Giving reaps natural consequences
on the giver, and cannot be avoided by anyone, but that’s okay, and here’s why.
Over time, every candle becomes smaller, but those whose flame never truly dies
are the ones alive in spirit.

This poem was inspired by a brown-out that happened in my house, which is a little funny, come to think of it, about how slightly related situations could turn into a..meaningful-in-a-totally different-way type of poem like this one.
