The Sun In the Same Country
Arizona
The sun beams across my face,
the sand so scorching I can’t walk across.
The snakes sneak under the awning for shade from the repressive sun.
Florida
The sun sparkles so bright I can’t see,
the waves crash as the kids play in the sand.
The concrete starts to sizzle like an egg being fried.
Indiana
The sun shines bright like the stars to come,
the corn stalks swing swiftly in the wind.
The trackers trace the edges of the green grass.
New York
The sky muddled and grey,
the sound of cars weaving in and out of lanes.
The people walking as if time will run out.
Wisconsin
The sun shys away without guilt,
the cold breeze enters in a fast wave.
The sun peaks through the clouds,
the day is almost gone, the sun is almost away.
