A place far away,

I’ve not been, to my dismay,

a future plan that needs headway.

The Western States are home to my father’s favorite place on earth,

the trout in the flowing creek and the bison in the wave-like hills,

the stars at night are shown like our true character when we are out of the light.

I grow weaker and weaker to the powerful urge that draws me to this faraway place,

I see photos that seem like a distant reality,

I feel the love that the people around me reserve, reserve for this place far away.

Elk bugling for a lover

Bears foraging around the corner

Face to face with Tatunka

Smelled over by a chance encounter with a coyote

They say Trout don't live in ugly places

This I can confirm

50 yards off the concrete and masses

You are no longer the alpha male

The food chain has a pecking order

Where is your place?

The air is dry and dusty

The buffalo urine is musty

The Natives presence is all around you

Temporary ground

Stewards

Pass it along how you found it

We own nothing here

It owns you
