Dad
All I know about you is from pictures and stories; I only knew you for 3 months, you were out too late, we got a phone call and your name was plastered on every NEWS platform, 16 years later, I love you Dad.
This piece is inspired by my dad. I was 3 months old when he was killed in a brutal car accident and I've always felt like a part of me was missing. I've started expressing my feeling of loss through writing and I've never felt so free. This is the first time I have written a poem and I thought it was really powerful.
