It seemed like mere seconds

of all of our memories, love, time, and promises

were torn as easily as paper.

Our love was so strong but the scissors torturing us would win in the end.

Who knew she would win?

You would always tell me

 “I love you so.”

“We are meant to be.”

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean it.”

“You’re just being crazy.”

I am not crazy

our love wasn’t meant to last

You told me “don’t overthink”

I wouldn't overthink

if you didn’t give me a chance to.

Now I understand the scissors wouldn’t have won.

If we wouldn’t have let her win.

If you wouldn’t have…

I’ve moved on,

And now?

My Rock won’t let the scissors win…

Rock…

Paper…

Scissors…

This piece was inspired by the children's game "Rock, Paper, Scissors." I just started writing and it just came to me.
