When The Seagulls Visit

Seagulls sweep by sometimes

I see them; Far from their balmy beaches

They come, soaring over the white slabs

We call our town.

What they visit for, I cannot say.

I wonder why they even come here,

From crystal waters and sandy breezes

To our one-note houses, our dim street lights

That they never come down to, only stare at.

When they leave,

I wonder where they go—

Maybe back home, to warmer shores,

Or yet another slab-filled town.
