last days, last days,
they seduce you with thoughts of the past
they enchant you with feelings of the past

today may be
the last school day of 2022,
it is not the end of my journey

memories of the past school year
descend as a fallen speck of dust-
slow but sweet
invisible but always there

the hold and sense of memories
hold me sway
to tunes and melodies
of a wintry conclusion
