10:30 AM
I woke up at 10:30 am
my hands cold and tingled and I asked
Am I alive?
I could hardly tell if I was human
my mind had yet to tell me the
Same old same old
it just buzzed incessantly behind me as I swung
my body across the bed, my limbs aching and numb
I still couldn’t feel my hands.
Two missed messages,
my brother and my mother
Did you take your medicine?
I told them yes,
and went to take it without thought.
I clambered into the bathroom and stared with my gummy eyes
the mirror, a mass of colors that was my face
it was if I had never seen it before.
So I left the bathroom with a head still numb and hands
that I still couldn’t feel beyond the tingling cold.
and walked to the kitchen, swearing
that my cranium was
Concave
an empty, hollow shell peeled away.
When I reach back to touch it
there’s only hair.
So I grab myself a pack of
Crackers
and I sit at my dining table to eat them.
They taste like nothing but the crunch of them
soothed me.
