It is never fun being me,

but just know, you can be who you want to be.

I am a black girl with problems,

but don't forget that I am tall

Standing at five foot six

people laugh at it all.

No matter how much foundation, concealer, and gloss;

tell me why it must feel

like I still lost.

Lost beauty standards, friends, and even reputation

which  has to be impossible

because I was born Haitian.

I don't earn nothing, I can't even hold my name,

Without being in the middle — the one to blame

No matter the month, week, or day,

everything about me

will remain "okay".

I pour my feelings out in writing, it's what I do;

you might have a better coping way,
