My Love
I often ask myself
If my sole purpose was to overlove everyone
Besides myself.
The love
I’m supposed to keep close to my chest
And protect at every cost,
Gone into the wind,
In inordinate amounts.
To where?
I hadn’t the pleasure of knowing
Where it’s landed and settled.
But I hope it’s the hands
Of someone lovely.
Someone in dire
Need of being loved,
Or just having a bit of it.
If that were the case,
I suppose the little love
I have for myself
Is better than none.
