Realist
By the end of the week,
I just want to have you
In my line of sight again.
I want to feel the week’s stress
Fall off my shoulders as I take you in.
I know it’s not realistic for us.
Not when I never pick up,
Not when I never call,
Not when I never go out.
I’m hanging by a thread here, can’t you see
That I selfishly hope you’d want me, anyways.
That you’d accept me, flaws and all.
But I know you won’t.
You can’t tell me it isn’t a nice thought, though.
