Three
Three words he said.
I love you.
Her heart soared through the air.
Life seemed beautiful.
Three words he said.
You can’t stay.
He wouldn’t so much as look at her.
He wouldn’t lay a finger on hers any longer.
Silence came from his mouth every time she spoke to him.
Three words she cried to him, knowing he was fading.
Don't leave me.
Don’t leave me, please.
She feels as though she could die.
As she never looks at him again.
He smiled, but never to her.
She smiled, but never to him.
