Hi, my name is Scared
I stand at my desk on the very first day of school
“Hi,” I say, “My name is Scared.”
“Why is my name Scared?” You ask.
It’s simple. It's because I am scared.
Scared of the fact that gun violence is the leading cause of death for kids and teens in the United States of America. Scared that the government won’t do anything about it. The same government that was designed to serve the people. I am Scared that my friends or family will die young and alone in an institution built to simply teach us. Scared of the fact that school isn’t a safe place anymore.
I will continue to be scared until I and other children in the world can rest easy knowing that guns won’t kill us when we’re at school.

I chose to write this because I can not help but wonder if gun violence in the United States will ever get solved. I am scared to do anything out in the world with the rising number of people that think it's cool or edgy to make those types of threats. I am tired of living in fear.
