I want to talk about love

How it sinks in,

Makes a path where it pleases

Destroying to create.
How in its aftermath

it bleeds you dry

or gives you life

I want to talk about blessings

How it gives us children,

Lovers, family, joy,

Bliss, satisfaction & content

Talk decades

Of happy endings,

Fairy Tales

It’s deep warmth flooding the body with hope

Talk sharp words

& how it tore skin

Talk firm hands

& how they bruised

Talk of the conditions

How we rarely can love without

That they must be blonde,

Tall, pretty

Talk about the give

How once we love

They are no longer what they used to be

Our blood drips from there hands

Our tears

Talk love & hate they are the same

How closed doors hide secrets

& polite closed lip smiles hold the key

How children caught in the middle hold their tongues for fear of making it worse

How they flinch at sudden movement, loud noises

How many lay awake listening to their parents scream, wishing for an end?

How many plead for help only to end up in a worse situation?

I want to talk about the quite love

The one not spoken but shown

The unconditional love of a mother

Warm, quite, soft, unspoken

The unacknowledged appreciation

I wish to talk about love

How it hurts & heels

How it holds a fine balance between love and hate

I wish to talk love & it’s ever changing ways
