The stars slowly sprinkle themselves across the sky as dusk descends

The soft twinkle of the stars reflects in my eyes as I gaze upon the sky

The occasional cloud drifts through the sky blocking the soft light from the stars

As the moon ascends into the sky the colors of the expansive sky shift

The glowing orange light becomes hues of purple mixed with darkness

The mixing of colors much like watercolors creates a new shade within the sky

Twilight

My mother calls me inside and I enter the warmth of my home

My mother folds back my covers revealing the silky sheets beneath

I climb into my bed burrowing under my covers and absorbing the warmth

My mother's hands glide across my covers pulling them up to my chin

Her soft hands cup my face and she brushes away the stray hairs covering my face

Sleep comes quickly and I descend into a peaceful slumber
