I put the lid on the butter,
Went outside,
And ran in the rain.
Rain only lasts so long.
And I think it’s underrated.
People tend to hate the rain,
Or fear the lightning and thunder,
Or blame it for mud and dirty shoes.
But we only have one life,
And with that thought,
It’s hard to live in the moment.
So when the clouds cry,
Maybe do the same,
Or sprint as fast as you can,
Pretending the rain will never catch you.
Look out your window,
And breathe.
Or look on your window, and bet on the raindrops.
I almost always have to comfort my boy,
Because he doesn’t like the lightning and the thunder.
But every now and then I take the raindrops in my hands
And my hair
And my clothes
And I let it soak me.
Because I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to play in the rain,
And what’s better
Than forgetting troubles for just that moment.
